What is a 2WFB hub ?
A 2WFB hub stands for 2-Way Freewheel Brake hub. It is an automated hub that allows your gocart to go forward and backward without shifting gears. On top it has a freewheel function (so you don't have to pedal continuously while driving) and a coaster brake (pedal backwards to brake). So, to summarize, with a 2WFB hub you can:
- drive forward (pedal forward)
- stop pedaling and keep going (freewheel)
- brake (pedal backwards)
- drive backward (stop and then pedal backwards)
If you still don't get it, try our Quado our MyTriky and you'll find out yourself. It is an extremely intuitive driving mechanism.
Do you use recycled plastics in Q-int products ?
We are - as many individuals and companies these days - concerned and aware of the environment, constantly thinking how to contribute our share. The reality of today is sometimes harder than our good intentions and forces us often to choose for original materials rather than recycled. Every toy or product that we make must fullfil a series of safety testing standards including strength testing and chemical testing. Unfortunately the recycled plastics of today cannot guarantee either being chemical-free or being strong enough in each part of the material.
Why is that ? Plastics in these days are recycled by melting all kinds of material (PP, HDPE, PE...) together. Moreover many of them are polluted with chemicals, metals, etc. In order to improve this recycling chain, the starting product (which you throw away) should also be as clean as possible, and thus preferably 1 material.
So, as much as the industry is trying to supply good standard recycled material, in order to guarantee you as a customer that you get a product that is a) strong enough in the places we want it to be and b) chemical-free, we need to be 100% sure that we are using a specific plastic in a pure mix and without pollution. Today this is not possible with recycled plastics.
As much as there are good uses of recycled plastics in certain non-childrelated products, we as a company in the toy industry must meet certain safety standards that mostly don't allow us to use recycled plastics. It is our intention to keep pushing suppliers to find solutions in improving the recycling chain, so that one day we will have the possibility of using more recycled material.
How do you ride a SQRL skatebike ?
By pedalling, just like a normal bike. Steer by moving your body to the desired direction, similar to skateboarding. It takes some practice but that's the fun of it.
You slow down by backpedaling. This activates the coaster brake in the rear wheel hub.
The Sqrl as an ideal action-vehicle for use in urban areas away from traffic: squares, narrow streets, wide lanes, boulevards, etc. As long as there is a smooth surface and no traffic.
Advanced SQRL? Try your skatebike without the removable gripstick-handle and make your way through the city, moving like a professional.
Protection ? Yes, as with any new vehicle or any new style of riding, make sure to protect yourself with a helmet and protective gear.
Why a balance bike and no bike with sidewheels ?
A balance bike takes away the complexity of pedals when learning to ride a bike. The child just needs to sit on the saddle, steer with the handlebar, and push off with the feet. For a young child this is already quite a challenge. The balance bike is a very fun way for the child to gradually learn balance, starting from a much younger age than with a regular bike. Once the child is ready to learn to ride a regular bike, the balance has already been mastered and the only new skill to learn is pedaling.
Using a balance bike allows the child to:
- have fun with a (balance) bike from an earlier age
- learn the riding skills gradually, in steps, and while having lot's of fun
- learn to ride a regular bike more quickly compared to learning with sidewheels
Put your youngest on a balance bike and see for yourself how much fun it gets to learn to ride.
Are Q-int products safe ?
All our products, no matter where they are made, are certified by the factory and by an independent agency. All are compliant with the new laws and policies for the markets where they are sold, be it Europe (CE, EN71, phthalates…) or USA (CPSIA: Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act, phthalates, lead…). Each product is tested
Rest assured, if we put our Q label on a product, it means that we have done lot’s of testing on the final production models and that we have obtained all necessary safety certifications necessary in the market.
What is a coaster brake ?
A coaster brake is a brake that is integrated in the driving hub, so you don't really see any brake. In order to slow down or stop your gocart, all you need to do is stop pedaling and start pushing your pedal backwards. This will activate a braking mechanism in your driving hub and slow you down. So, if you don't see a handbrake on our products, that doesn't automatically mean it doesn't have a brake ;-)
